About Us

Born in 1960 in Bratislava (at the time in communist Czechoslovakia), Jana has lived in Switzerland since 1968. In 1999 she discovered her love for sailing and life at sea at the same time as her love for Dieter. She trained as a teacher but opted for a career with Swiss radio and television, where she hosted a prime-time news programme. After 14 years in journalism she took over responsibility for the large-scale cultural foundation of Switzerland's biggest retail chain, Migros. In January 2003 she opened a restaurant, running it until the start of the "Phare Bleu" project. A keen traveller, Jana holds the magnificent natural beauty of Grenada, the kindness of its people and their relaxed way of life in the highest regard.

Dieter was born 1963 in Switzerland and didn't leave the country except for his numerous sailing trips. Sailing has been Dieter's first passion and music his second. He studied piano playing and had several bands. At the age of 22 he opened his own music shop and music school. His qualities as an organiser, producer and music engineer resulted in many successful concerts, which were a fixed part in the Swiss music circuit. He loved also to work with students, teaching them all the different aspects of the music business to enable them to get started. With Le Phare Bleu Dieter is fulfilling his dreams about combining his love for sailing, his multi tasking skills and his easy way to deal with people.
